A behind-the-scenes story of sport as competition, knowledge, skill and community. This is the aim of \u201cThe Sports Workshop: Team Work, Research, Technology, Passion and Social Value<\/em><\/strong>\u201d (L\u2019officina dello sport. Le squadre, la ricerca, la tecnologia, la passione e i valori sociali )<\/em>, a book edited by the Pirelli Foundation and published by Marsilio Arte<\/strong>. The book will be presented on Wednesday 26 June<\/strong> at 7 p.m. at the Teatro Franco Parenti<\/strong> in the presence of Marco Tronchetti Provera, executive vice president of Pirelli, and numerous guests from the world of culture and sport. For the occasion, the foyer of the Theatre and the Bagni Misteriosi will host a series of installations that draw on images from the Pirelli Historical Archive, with scale reproductions of the previously unexhibited plates<\/strong> created by the artist Lorenzo Mattotti<\/strong> to illustrate the volume.<\/p>\n The editorial project, which is available in separate English and Italian<\/strong> editions<\/strong>, documents the worksites<\/strong>, the \u201cworkshops\u201d, the laboratories<\/strong>, and sports product factories. It tells the story of the backstage of competitions, with the voices, sounds, anthems and staging, together with the narratives of sport<\/strong>. And it also looks at the role of sports within corporate welfare <\/strong>initiatives, both past and present. The book has an introductory section with institutional contributions by Marco Tronchetti Provera, Giovanni Malag\u00f2, Evelina Christillin and Stefano Domenicali. It has a narrative section with a story by the writer Joe Lansdale<\/strong> and other contributions on the links between Pirelli and sport by Antonio Calabr\u00f2, Ambrogio Beccaria, and Mario Isola. There is also a section with essays that shed light on many aspects of the world of sport. Emanuela Audisio, Eva Cantarella, Giuseppe Di Piazza, Giuseppe Lupo, and Darwin Pastorin, are some of the writers concerned.
