The Italian version of \u2018Entrepreneurship education at school in Europe \u2014 2025\u2019 has been published<\/em><\/p>\n

You aren\u2019t born an entrepreneur. Of course, you may have that extra spark that makes the difference, but a \u2018flash of inspiration\u2019 may remain just that if it isn\u2019t accompanied by much more besides. In other words, entrepreneurship is not an innate gift, but a set of skills and abilities that can be learnt and practised. This learning process should start in schools from an early age.<\/p>\n

Understanding where school systems stand in this respect is important, which is why reading the report ‘Entrepreneurship Education at School in Europe \u2013 2025’
\nis worthwhile. This is the Italian version of the Eurydice Network’s report of the same name. The research provides an overview of the various strategies developed by education authorities across Europe to promote entrepreneurship education and curriculum development, as well as support and guidance for educators and schools. Compiled by a team of authors, the report shows that in most education systems, pupils can take part in entrepreneurial experiences as part of both curricular and extracurricular activities: this represents a significant step forward in promoting an entrepreneurial culture within our societies. In addition, the study notes that education authorities have improved regulations or programmes offering training opportunities in entrepreneurship education to school leaders and teachers.<\/p>\n

So, is everything fine then? Not quite, according to the Eurydice researchers. In fact, it is necessary to recognise these skills as essential and move them from the extracurricular sphere to the core curriculum. In other words, ‘entrepreneurial skills’ should feature more prominently in school curricula. An entrepreneurial mindset should be seen as the ability to go beyond the traditional business world, so it is a significant leap forward that still needs to be made. This can only become a reality through the combined efforts of various stakeholders, starting with policymakers who, as previously mentioned, \u2018could provide schools, and school leaders in particular, with in-service training to enable them to offer all pupils practical entrepreneurial experiences.\u2019<\/p>\n

There is therefore still a great deal of work to be done, not only to facilitate the creation of genuinely new businesses, but also to promote the growth of society as a whole. As noted in the opening pages of the research, \u2018a resilient and competitive Europe depends on people who can think independently, act decisively and adapt quickly, and entrepreneurship education has proven to be an effective way of developing these skills.\u2019
\nThe report \u2018Entrepreneurship education at school in Europe\u2019 is therefore well worth a careful read.<\/p>
