How many panettoni have been through the gates of the factories? <strong>Christmas is the most global of all festivities<\/strong>, uniting and bringing together different cultures in all societies. It is celebrated in every corner of the world of Pirelli, even though perhaps with different customs and different symbols: but it is always unique and powerful in its ability to bring people together through the ages.<\/p>\n<p>Countless December issues of the Group\u2019s <strong>house organs<\/strong> have devoted their front covers to the magical festivity of Christmas, everywhere in the world, with an almost unique intermingling of cultures. Some of the prettiest, cheeriest, and most <strong>colourful covers<\/strong>, for example, are those of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazionepirelli.org\/archivio-storico\/pubblicazioni-e-riviste\/search\/result.html?startPage=21&amp;query=&amp;jsonVal=%7B%22jsonVal%22%3A%7B%22query%22%3A%22Natal%22%2C%22startDate%22%3A%22%22%2C%22endDate%22%3A%22%22%2C%22fieldDate%22%3A%22dataNormal%22%2C%22_perPage%22%3A20%2C%22titolo_father_string%22%3A%22%5C%22Noticias+Pirelli%5C%22%22%7D%7D&amp;orderBy=&amp;orderType=asc&amp;attachmentMisc=&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>Noticias<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, the magazine of <strong>Pirelli Brazil<\/strong>. \u201cBom Natal\u201d, in other words, with Father Christmases in the branches of a tree decorated with bananas and grapes: \u201cFeliz Natal e pr\u00f3spero 1969\u201d, and who cares if the children are wearing short-sleeved T-shirts under a blazing sun. Also the Argentinean children of the <strong><em>P\u00e1ginas Pirelli<\/em> <\/strong>would find summer clothes under their twinkling tree. Clutching their presents tightly, the <strong><em>pirelitos<\/em><\/strong> brought \u201cFraternidad, Paz y Trabajo\u201d: it was 1956, and the house organ of <strong>Pirelli Platense<\/strong>, an Italian enclave in the land of Argentina, had just celebrated its first anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProducts from Burton-on-Trent\u201d appeared at Christmas for the family on the cover of <strong><em>Pirellicon<\/em><\/strong> in December<strong> 1959<\/strong>. The house magazine of <strong>Pirelli Ltd in Britain<\/strong> was a celebration of everything that Pirelli produced in the late 1950s: warm slippers and a comfortable reclining armchair for Mum, toys made of rubber for the children. Dad, wearing his jacket, tie, and Pirelli slippers, received no less a gift than a tyre \u2013 or rather four, one might hope \u2013 a <strong>Pirelli BS3<\/strong>, the technological marvel of 1959. In the same years, the Spanish <strong><em>Hechos y Noticias<\/em><\/strong> created an atmosphere somewhat closer to the classical symbolism of Christmas: a Nativity in ceramic with the Sagrada Familia in the background for Navidad 1955, and a terracotta shepherd under a decorated fir tree branch for 1956. And then, of course, a dedication to the Three Kings, who are almost more important than Father Christmas in Spain, in the sixteenth-century stained-glass window of the Cathedral of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de los Reyes in Barcelona for the December 1958 issue. An artistic touch for Christmas in the <strong>Greek house organ <em>Ta Nea tis Pirelli Hellas<\/em><\/strong>, with Father Christmas bringing gifts by car \u2013 with <strong>Cinturato<\/strong> <strong>Pirelli tyres<\/strong>, of course \u2013 through the sky, designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazionepirelli.org\/archivio-storico\/disegni-e-manifesti\/search\/result.html?query=Riccardo+Manzi&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Riccardo Manzi<\/strong><\/a>. The Parthenon appears in the distance.<\/p>\n<p>And then, of course, plenty of Christmas-themed covers both for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazionepirelli.org\/archivio-storico\/pubblicazioni-e-riviste\/IT-PIRELLI-BIB0001-0010010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>Fatti e Notizie<\/em> <\/strong><\/a>company magazine and for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rivistapirelli.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>Pirelli<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, the highly successful publishing operation that ran from the 1940s to the 1970s. Two covers of <em>Pirelli<\/em> magazine sum up a whole world of festivities under the banner of the Long P. December 1949: in the long-awaited post-war period, children can at last dream about Meo the Cat, the Susy doll, Rempel toys, and coloured balloons. December 1960: the mechanical Father Christmas was the brilliant idea of the designer <strong>Andr\u00e9 Fran\u00e7ois<\/strong>, who together with colleagues such as <strong>Ezio Bonini, Sandro Mendini, and Renzo Biasion<\/strong> once again made <em>Pirelli<\/em> magazine, under the guidance of <strong>Arrigo Castellani<\/strong>, a faithful mirror of its age.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How many Christmas performances have children in Pirelli nurseries and after-school put on around the world?
