The office, which focused on advertising (\u201cpubblicit\u00e0 e reclame\u201d), the <strong>drafting of price lists, catalogues and miscellaneous advertising prints<\/strong>, also oversaw participation in motor races, which were viewed right from the beginning as a high-impact means of promotion. The department\u2019s activities included documenting Pirelli\u2019s participation in motor races, which is why the oldest photos in the <strong>photographic archive<\/strong> of the Propaganda Pirelli department are those of the first races in the 1920s: the<strong> Coppa della Consuma<\/strong>, the <strong>Garda circuit<\/strong>, and the <strong>Savio circuit<\/strong> in Ravenna. And, of course, <strong>Monza<\/strong>, where Pirelli first took part in 1922, the year it was opened. And then, in 1923, on <strong>Martin de Alzaga\u2019s Miller<\/strong>, in 1924 on the victorious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazionepirelli.org\/archivio-storico\/fotografie\/detail\/IT-PIRELLI-FT0001-0000000363\/gran-premio-d-italia-del-1924.html?jsonVal={%22jsonVal%22:{%22query%22:%22Ascari%22,%22startDate%22:%22%22,%22endDate%22:%22%22,%22fieldDate%22:%22dataNormal%22,%22_perPage%22:20}}&amp;attachmentMisc=undefined&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Antonio Ascari<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Alfa Romeo P2, and again on Alfa Romeo, driven by <strong>Gastone Brilli Peri<\/strong> (after the death of Ascari), who became world champion. The 1930s and \u201940s brought the triumphs of drivers such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazionepirelli.org\/archivio-storico\/fotografie\/detail\/IT-PIRELLI-FT0001-0000000293\/il-pilota-tazio-nuvolari-monza.html?jsonVal={%22jsonVal%22:{%22query%22:%22Tazio%20Nuvolari%22,%22startDate%22:%22%22,%22endDate%22:%22%22,%22fieldDate%22:%22dataNormal%22,%22_perPage%22:20}}&amp;attachmentMisc=undefined&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Tazio Nuvolari<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazionepirelli.org\/archivio-storico\/fotografie\/detail\/IT-PIRELLI-FT0001-0000007122\/il-pilota-nino-farina.html?jsonVal={%22jsonVal%22:{%22query%22:%22Nino%20Farina%22,%22startDate%22:%22%22,%22endDate%22:%22%22,%22fieldDate%22:%22dataNormal%22,%22_perPage%22:20}}&amp;attachmentMisc=undefined&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Nino Farina<\/strong><\/a>, also in Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazionepirelli.org\/archivio-storico\/fotografie\/search\/result.html?query=&amp;jsonVal=%7B%22jsonVal%22%3A%7B%22startDate%22%3A%22%22%2C%22endDate%22%3A%22%22%2C%22fieldDate%22%3A%22dataNormal%22%2C%22_perPage%22%3A20%2C%22collanaName%22%3A%22%5C%22car+racing%5C%22%22%7D%7D&amp;luogoRipresa=%22Monza%22&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Monza<\/a> and in the famous <strong>Targa Florio and Mille Miglia races<\/strong>. There is also a wealth of documentation on participation in<strong> international races<\/strong> in the 1930s: the Tobruk-Tripoli, the Leopolis Grand Prix in Poland, the San Sebasti\u00e1n GP in Spain, the Finnish GP, the Brazilian GP in Sao Paulo, and many others.<\/p>\n<p>With the catalogue of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondazionepirelli.org\/archivio-storico\/fotografie\/search\/result.html?collanaName=%22car%20racing%22&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>car-racing series<\/strong><\/a> now complete, all the photos of car races commissioned by Propaganda Pirelli from the 1920s to the 1950s are now available online.
