The first edition of the Premio Campiello Junior<\/strong> has come to an end with the victory of Quando la notte non torno <\/em>by Antonella Sbuelz<\/strong>. The offspring of a partnership between the Fondazione Il Campiello and the Pirelli Foundation, the fledgling award honours works of fiction and poetry in Italian for children aged 10 to 14.<\/p>\n

The final was hosted by Federico Russo and Virginia Stagni<\/strong> at the H-Farm<\/strong> in Roncade, under the watchful eyes of the young voters and the Selection Jury chaired by Roberto Piumini<\/strong>, to whose rhymes we entrust the invitation to the next edition:<\/p>

Lettori amici, <\/em>
\nsiccome sono poeta,<\/em>
\nvi parler\u00f2 di poesia, <\/em>
\ndove ogni parola \u00e8 un giuramento,<\/em>
\nogni parola vale,<\/em>
\nogni parola \u00e8 davvero,<\/em>
\nogni parola ha un senso. <\/em>
\nquest\u2019oggi, lo sappiamo, \u00e8 premiato<\/em>
\nchi ha scritto storie, chi ha scritto parole,<\/em>
\nperch\u00e8 ci ha fatto un dono: ma che dono?<\/em>
\nIo vi voglio parlare<\/em>
\ndi cosa accade leggendo<\/em>
\nun racconto, un romanzo e, s\u2019intende, <\/em>
\nleggendo o ascoltando una poesia.<\/em>
\nS\u00ec, certamente, quando voi leggete, <\/em>
\navete la sorpresa di una storia,<\/em>
\ndi paesaggi e persone, e imparate<\/em>
\neventi eavventure, e questo \u00e8 molto<\/em>
\nperch\u00e8 davvero soli noi saremmo <\/em>
\nsenza il conforto di altro e di altrove: <\/em>
\nleggere di altri, vivi in altri luoghi,<\/em>
\nin altri tempi, \u00e8 buona compagnia. <\/em>
\nSicch\u00e9, innanzitutto, quel che accade<\/em>
\n\u00c8 un patto fra chi scrive e chi legge: <\/em>
\nuno d\u00e0 le parole, uno d\u00e0 l\u2019attenzione. <\/em>
\nIl patto \u00e8 di passare un tempo insieme,<\/em>
\ncome fra amici: un tempo di presenza, <\/em>
\ngioco e simpatia, tempo leale. <\/em>
\nAccade anche un altro fatto, e patto: <\/em>
\nleggendo, voi accettate, con l\u2019autore, <\/em>
\ndi fare insieme un teatro, di giocare<\/em>
\ndi essere qualcuno che non siete, <\/em>
\nfingere un\u2019altra anima, e persino<\/em>
\nun altro corpo. <\/em>
\nMa, voi direte, \u00e8 solo l\u2019autore<\/em>
\nQuello che parla, che conduce il gioco, <\/em>
\nche fa il regista nel teatro, <\/em>
\nfa il maestro del coro: e invece<\/em>
\nnon \u00e8 questo che accade.<\/em>
\nEcco quello che accade: ogni parola,<\/em>
\nquando voi la leggete,<\/em>
\npercorre tutta la vostra memoria, <\/em>

\nnoi leggiamo: \u201cUn cavallo,\u201d<\/em>
\ne prima che il nostro sguardo arrivi<\/em>

\ndentro il nostro cervello,<\/em>
\nnel bianco santuario del cranio,<\/em>

\nvediamo la sua immagine, ma sentiamo, <\/em>

\nanche il suo odore, e nelle gambe<\/em>
\nlo sforzo di restare sulla sella,<\/em>
\ne insomma, visto tutto, e ricordato, <\/em>

\ndiamo a quella parola la sua immagine, <\/em>
\nche \u00e8 una nostra immagine segreta: <\/em>
\nsolo noi la sappiamo, solo noi, <\/em>
\ne nemmeno l\u2019autore che leggiamo. <\/em>
\nOgni parola, mentre la leggiamo,<\/em>
\nci ripercorre il tempo della vita, <\/em>
\nci pulisce le arterie del ricordo, <\/em>
\npotente goccia di sangue sparviero, <\/em>
