Throughout the 20 years that it was on air, families would gather around the television to follow the daily broadcast. The variety of language and styles used in each episode\u2019s sketches and short advertising clips entertained people of all ages and social classes. The products that the programme served up to its viewers, whose amazed eyes were glued to the screen, represented millions of Italians\u2019 dream of social liberation and wealth. Marco Giusti tells the programme\u2019s story in painstaking detail, cataloguing all the episodes, products, production houses, advertising agencies, writers and actors. The volume offers a wealth of text and images that trace the programme\u2019s full output from 3 February 1957 to 1 January 1977. At the same time it recounts Italy\u2019s society during the years of its \u201ceconomic miracle\u201d: from the spread of cars and home appliances through to consumerism as a lifestyle and the changing social role of women and how they were presented on television. The book also contains the many clips created by Pirelli, including: \u201cMammut, Babbut e Figliut\u201d, \u201cI consigli di Sin\u00e9\u201d, \u201cLa parola al gommista\u201d and \u201cLa nostra vita sulle strade\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Il Grande libro di Carosello.
