Luis Sep\u00falveda Calfucura was born in Ovalle, in Chile, on 4 October 1949.<\/p>\n

A successful writer, director and political activist, Sep\u00falveda left Chile after being imprisoned under the regime of General Pinochet then lived in various different countries before settling in Spain, where he spent the rest of his life. His first novel was The Old Man Who Read Love Novels<\/em>, in 1989, with which he conquered the literary scene. His works also include: The Name of a Bullfighter<\/em>, The Diary of a Sentimental Killer<\/em> and the children\u2019s book The Story of a Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
