    Jules Verne

Jules Verne was born in Nantes on 8 February 1828 and died in Amiens on 24 March 1905. Verne was a prolific writer, especially of children's books, and is considered one of the fathers of modern science fiction. His most famous novels include Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Around the World in 80 Days, The Mysterious Island and From the Earth to the Moon, works that have inspired generations of writers and are still of great importance today, thanks also to numerous film adaptations. His focus on science and his inexhaustible imagination have often anticipated the scientific and technological advances of the decades that followed.
