A Stir of the Soul: Pirelli’s 500 GPs in the F1 World Championship

A magnificent tale in pictures and words, spanning 75 years of Pirelli’s presence in Formula 1. It shows how these competitions are an extreme laboratory of technology, decision-making, and corporate culture. In an almost film-like sequence, the illustrations alternate faces and details, circuits and actions, backstage moments and numbers, culminating in the final statistics and infographics.

In 2025, Formula 1 celebrates 75 years of the World Championship, which began at Silverstone in 1950. The book marks the milestone of 500 Pirelli Grands Prix in the World Championship. It tells an inside story of F1: research as an open-air workshop, the technological evolution of tyres, and the role of the many people – both on and off the track – who make the spectacle of speed possible.

The volume draws on a vast collection of images, most of which have been taken from the Pirelli Historical Archive. These date from the early years of F1 in the 1950s to the 1980s – with unforgettable champions such as Ayrton Senna and Nelson Piquet – through to the most recent battles, captured in a previously unpublished reportage by the photographer Darren Heath at the 2025 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The images act as a bridge between memory and the present.
