James Joyce
James Augustine Aloysius Joyce was born in Rathgar, a small village near Dublin, on 2 February, 1882, and died on 13 January, 1941. In February, 1922, his masterpiece, Ulysses, was published. Joyce broke all the rules of narrative with this book; he employs a stream-of-consciousness style as he follows the three protagonists over twenty-four hours through the use of interior monologue, jettisoning the traditional novelistic structure.
