Look Who’s Talking
This workshop invites the students to “meet” articles designed and made by Pirelli during the course of its history. They will look at them not just as useful objects, but as witnesses to innovation, relationships, and change. Items from everyday life, sport, transport, and design show how ingenuity and teamwork among engineers, architects, designers, and artists have helped reshape the way people live. Following the journey from the original idea through to the design and manufacture, the students will learn to look at these objects from a fresh perspective: what story could an object tell if it had a voice? They will discover that every item has a backstory grounded in research, creativity, and cultural and social transformations.
In the workshop session, the students will give a voice to the items they have observed, turning them into the lead characters in a story. The final activity will consist in conducting an imaginary interview.
The activity takes place at the Pirelli Foundation and is for a single class. It can also be held online in two one-hour sessions for one or two classes.
