Atlantis: A Journey in Search of Beauty
Grandfather Renzo Piano leaves Genoa with his granddaughter Elsa for a boat trip in search of the mythical city of Atlantis. To discover the position of the lost city, which is perfection itself and every architect’s dream, grandfather and granddaughter embark on a journey around the world, going to all the places where the great architect has spent a lifetime in search of perfection. From the new San Giorgio Bridge, which has just been opened, to Kansai International Airport in Osaka, to Potsdamer Platz and the Shard skyscraper in London, and then back to Italy, to the Parco della Musica in Rome. The book was written by Renzo Piano together with his son Carlo, with amusing illustrations by Tommaso Vidus Rosin, to encourage those children who dream of becoming the architects of tomorrow to try to find out what it is that might make a city “perfect”.
