Carlo Emilio Gadda
Carlo Emilio Gadda was born in Milan on 14 November 1893 and died in Rome on 21 May 1973. He was one of the great innovators in 20th century narrative and one of the first authors to experiment with using a language blending dialect, jargon and neologisms, with a style seeking to use dissonance to create a sense of mental displacement. He wrote the article “Dell’automobile” (“On the car”) in Pirelli Rivista magazine no. 5 of 1963.
