    What a lovely word!

As soon as you venture into its vocabulary, you’ll find that Italian is a language full of beautiful words – ancient words that are still very much in use, obsolete words, and brand-new words. Some are very simple, with just a few syllables so they can be pronounced, while others are long. There is always a story behind each one, which explains where it comes from and how it entered the language. Marella Nappi’s book, illustrated by Sara Not, is a wonderful guide that takes children into the world behind the words they use every day. A journey through time and space for inquisitive kids who want to go off in search of the meanings and history of Italian words, and to have fun while learning. Che bella parola! Parole di ieri e di oggi Marella Nappi ; illustrazioni di Sara Not Einaudi Ragazzi, 2019
