Città di sogni is the second chapter in the trilogy written by masterful crime fiction author Don Winslow. In this novel, we meet Danny again, the protagonist of Città in fiamme (City on fire), fleeing from the mob war that set Rhode Islands on fire. FBI, police and organised crime are relentlessly looking for him, to arrest or kill him. Together with his father, son and some surviving gang members, he comes to Los Angeles to build a new life but is found by a federal agent, who offers him a dangerous quid pro quo. Hollywood is the city of cinema – of dreams, in fact – and a film about the mob war that disrupted Danny's life is being filmed. Thus, he decides to get into business with the film producers and unexpectedly finds love on the set, with a mysterious and fascinating woman. Winslow's cinematographic prose and his dry and cutting style keep readers glued to each page, racing towards the last chapter.
