Fondocorsa (Bottoming out)
In 1954: Alberto Ascari left the historical Scuderia Ferrari team, with which he raced for years and that had become a family to him. He raced for the first time on a Lancia car, the D24, in an epic competition: the Mille Miglia, which he won, crossing the finish line in Brescia. Giorgio Terruzzi records the story of this race with great passion and enthusiasm, retracing those days and narrating the great protagonists of the 1950s racing world who crossed Ascari's life, such as Corrado Millanta, Piero Cereda, Enzo Ferrari, Vittorio Jano, Tazio Nuvolari and many more. Ascari dedicated his 1954 victory to the latter, who recently passed away. A race that got off to a very bad start, punctuated by obstacles and mishaps – a difficult victory that required determination and perseverance, and that ended in glory, with a new speed record in the last stretch.
