Pirelli. Life of an industrial company
In this book written in 1946, Alberto Pirelli, son of Giovanni Battista, who in 1872 founded the eponymous company, narrates his experience at the head of Pirelli, recalling anecdotes from his working life as well as personal memories, and without concealing his deep feelings. Alberto, together with brother Piero, was basically born and raised within the walls of the first factory on via Ponte Seveso, which he remembers with affection and fondness. As children, he says in the book, they used to feel the throb of the machinery in their bedroom, as, at the time, they used to live next to the factory. This book retraces almost 75 years of Pirelli life, from its origins up to the first half of the 20th century, following its development in Italy and abroad, and including its activities, from the procurement of raw materials to the production of rubber items and tyres. This is the story of an innovative company founded 150 years ago, soon after the unification of Italy, which marked the history of Italian industrial development. La Pirelli.
