    The Sky Atlas

Looking up at the starry sky has always fascinated human beings, making them dream and filling them with curiosity and a desire to uncover its mysteries. People have looked at the stars ever since antiquity, populating them with gods and heroes or studying them in an attempt to wrest their secrets. Edward Brooke-Hitching is a writer with a passion for maps and his book retraces the history of humanity and its vision of the sky, from rock paintings and Babylonian astronomy studies to the ancient Greeks, who imagined the heavens as a crystal ball and associated the constellations with mythological figures, through to the latest astronomical discoveries that have enabled humans to really travel among the stars. The book is complete with manuscripts, maps, and ancient drawings, helping the reader relive centuries of wonder and passion for research.   L’atlante del cielo Edward Brooke-Hitching Mondadori, 2020
