Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on 19 January 1901, Patricia Highsmith passed away in Aurigeno, Canton Ticino, Switzerland, on 4 February 1995. Highsmith wrote many psychological thrillers, and gained widespread recognition through the film adaptations of her works, including Strangers on a Train, famously brought to the screen by Alfred Hitchcock, and the series of films inspired by her Tom Ripley novels.
