Glorious summers
Memories of past summers, of car rides with the family towards a long-awaited destination, whether a sunny beach, a mountain cabin or a small house on a lake – these are memories that accompany us all our life, and that resurface to our mind every summer. Sometimes it's the recollection of a song we sang in the car, the scent of the sea at our arrival, books read during the holidays, a summer friendship that still continues today or a fleeting love story that only lasted one season. This graphic novel by Belgian scriptwriter Zidrou and Spanish illustrator Jordi Lafebre reawakens that feeling of nostalgia for past vacations, narrating Pierre’s three summer holidays during the 1960s-70s. Pierre is a comic book artist who can’t wait to finish the plates he’s working on and leave on vacation with his family, who is also eagerly awaiting for him to stop working and go. A delicate and poetic story about a family like so many others, a family we can identify with and relate to, whatever the time or place. Un’estate fa Zidrou ; Jordi Lafebre Bao Publishing, 2019
