Digital: Operating Instructions

With Pirelli We Learn to... DIGITISE

Today’s ongoing digital transformation processes involve many aspects of our daily lives. Pirelli has always embraced technological innovation and was very quick to focus on the potential of the digital world, rapidly transforming all areas of the company: from the factories to the continuous training of employees, to the products themselves and customer relations.

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW
Photographs, films, sketches, technical documents and video installations will all help us follow the main technological innovations that Pirelli has introduced over the years. The students will learn about patents, from those for the first tyres to Pirelli’s current Cyber Tyre, which communicates with the vehicle’s electronics for enhanced road safety. They will find out about driving simulators for virtual tyre testing for any model of car, in any road condition, as well as about the Next MIRS robotic line in Pirelli’s automated, connected and increasingly environmentally friendly factories. Taking inspiration from the programming codes that enable digital systems to function, the students will then build a robot of their own and program and operate it.

OBJECTIVES
The aim is to explain the importance and potential of digital transformations, which must always give top priority to human wellbeing and environmental considerations. The course also aims to promote digital skills among students, empowering them to engage actively and critically with computer programming and computational thinking in order to learn to interact actively and critically with technology.

This course will be in the form of a single in-person meeting.
