Little Rubber Tales
1949 saw the birth of Meo Romeo: a soft, fun foam-rubber cat, followed a few years later by Zizì, a cheerful little monkey. It was the artist and designer Bruno Munari who came up with these clever toys. With his brilliant imagination, he turned simple materials into the most surprising objects for Pirelli, bringing lively stories to life. Through pictures, readings, and archive items, the children will discover the amazing properties of rubber. They will see how a simple material can turn – through sheer ingenuity – into a toy, a character, or a story.
In the hands-on session, we will make up a story inspired by characters, settings, objects, and events seen in the archive. By combining these pieces in different ways, each child will create a brand-new tale, putting teamwork and imagination to work.
The activity takes place at the Pirelli Foundation and is for one or two classes.
