2018 Open Archives:
The 1960s and Pirelli magazine
In 2018 the Pirelli Foundation again took part in the Open Archives initiative promoted by the Associazione Rete Fotografia, which opened up the photographic testimony of the cultural history of Milan and Lombardy to the general public.
Guided tours on the theme of “Photography in Italy in the 1960s” were organised during the 2018 edition. This gave the Pirelli Foundation an opportunity to take stock of one of the most creative and vibrant periods in the history of the “Long P”, starting out in particular from the experience of Pirelli magazine, which was regularly on newsstands from 1948 to 1972. The greatest photographers of the time, from Ugo Mulas to Fulvio Roiter, Arno Hammacher and Enzo Sellerio, contributed to the magazine and, in 2018, Open Archives took visitors on a photographic journey through a truly unique period.
