Chuck Palahniuk was born in Pasco, Washington, on 21 February 1962. One of the most distinctive voices in contemporary fiction, Palahniuk is known for his raw, grotesque, and deliberately provocative style. His narratives expose the contradictions of modern society and probe the darker impulses of human nature. His most famous novel, Fight Club, was adapted for the cinema in 1999 by the director David Fincher and has since become a cult film. Other notable works include Choke, Survivor, and Rant.
