    Corrado Augias

    Corrado Augias was born in Rome 90 years ago, on 26 January 1935. A journalist, author, and television host, he served as editor-in-chief and New York correspondent for the weekly L’Espresso and the daily la Repubblica. He has created and presented a number of cultural programmes for television, such as Telefono Giallo, Babele, Enigma, and Le Storie. Diario Italiano. A prolific writer of fiction and detective novels, Augias achieved notable success with his series of books on the hidden histories of major cities, including Istanbul, London, New York, Paris, Rome, and the Vatican City. In the 1970s, he contributed a number of articles to Pirelli magazine, including La verità verificabile ("The Verifiable Truth"), published in issue 9 of 1970.
