Born in Liège on 13 February 1903, Georges Simenon died in Lausanne on 4 September 1989. One of the most prolific writers of the twentieth century, Simenon authored hundreds of novels and short stories, which have been translated worldwide. Best known for the Inspector Maigret series, his works—with their crisp, incisive style and deep psychological insight—have become cornerstones of the detective genre.
