The Wild Robot
Rozzum 7134 is a robot, and indeed a she-robot. She is accidentally activated by a group of curious otters, who find her on a rock. Roz turns out to be the only survivor of a shipwreck, and even though robots are not supposed to feel emotions, the first ray of sunshine that warms her ice-cold body gives her the energy to start her life. The island she finds herself on is the first place she has ever known and she thinks it’s perfect for her, as she has no other information saved in her memory. The protagonist of this science-fiction story will need to learn from nature, and from the animals, how to survive, camouflage herself, and communicate with the other beings all around her, including a little gosling who will take her for her mother. This is a story about integration and the ability to love diversity, and it is beautifully illustrated by the author himself, Peter Brown. Il Robot Selvatico Peter Brown Adriano Salani Editore, 2018
