Mister Horizontal & Miss Vertical
A bizarre couple who apparently have nothing in common: she is passionate about the sky and travels on rockets and hot air balloons, while he prefers to rest on the sofa or in a nice hot tub. She loves New York and would have liked to be a firefighter, while he would happily walk for days end in the desert like a camel-driver. So how do they manage to get on together and, especially,... what will appeal to their child? In a story in which the characters never seem to meet, it becomes clear how, on the contrary, their diversity is a powerful aspect of their love. The two authors take us through these conflicting worlds with amusing texts and drawings created with flat colours and simple lines that recall those of the great masters of graphics and comics. Only at the end do we find out that the main inspiration for this book was a delightful shot taken by René Maltête of an unusual family strolling along the seafront.
