Jack London
John Griffith Chaney London was born in San Francisco 150 years ago, on 12 January 1876. Before achieving success as a writer, London held many different jobs, as a newsboy, illegal oyster fisherman, laundry worker, seal hunter, boxer, gold prospector, and other occupations, travelling throughout his life. These experiences inspired many of his works, including The Star Rover, The Call of the Wild, White Fang, The Iron Heel and Martin Eden.
