L’incredibile notte di Billy Bologna
Matamoto, a fearsome Japanese master who speaks in haikus, has built a gigantic domino run with millions of dominoes. The night before it is presented to the public, Billy goes to see it in secret. He is enchanted… and trapped! He puts a foot wrong and topples the run. Desperate, and in the middle of the night, Billy runs away to reach an island to hide on. On the beach, a young man dressed in white offers to help him: he only has one night to put everything back the way it was before.
A story of mischief, fear and magic. But there’s more. Reading in greater depth, you can also see an indirect analysis of the father-son relationship and an accurate description of how anxiety affects people. However, L’incredibile notte di Billy Bologna (Billy Bologna’s incredible night) takes on a concrete form when the boy searches for a solution. The only possibility, for him, is to escape to the Isle of Sunsets, where no adult would ever come looking for him. But someone will be waiting for him, and what’s more will be ready to lend him a hand. It’s a story of surprises, adventures and magic with a really sweet ending and an unexpected lesson: sometimes something good can even come out of getting into a scrape.
