Marguerite Duras
Marguerite Germaine Marie Donnadieu, known under the pseudonym Marguerite Duras, was born in Saigon, Vietnam, on 4 April, 1914. Duras was born in French Indochina and moved to France to study law, mathematics and political science while also taking part in the French Resistance during the Nazi occupation. Her works include “The Lover”, “The War”, “The Ravishing of Lol Stein” and “Moderato Cantabile”; she also wrote the screenplay of the famous film “Hiroshima mon amour”, for which she was nominated for an Oscar.
