Tove Jansson was born in Helsinki on 9 August 1914 and died on 27 June 2001. Swedish-speaking Finnish writer, cartoonist and painter, Jansson is famous for having created the famous “Moomin” series of books, fictional characters that look similar to white hippopotamuses, which have become an international success and have been translated into more than fifty languages. Starting in the Seventies, her children's books were also accompanied by novels for adults, the first of which was “The Summer Book”.
