Tralummescuro
“Tralummescuro” is the moment “between light and darkness”, the time when the warmth of the day slips away into the darkness of evening. Francesco Guccini has written a ballad for his beloved village in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine: Pàvana, now almost uninhabited, dons a magical, fairy-tale atmosphere. Switching between Italian and dialect, the singer-songwriter retraces the stories of a village that was once brimming with life. He brings out a series of memories in an atmosphere that wavers between wakefulness and sleep, between recollections and dreams, describing the time when, as a child, he would sit and read outside the front door at dusk, after a day spent running up and down the river, while the villagers returned home after a long day’s work in the fields. Francesco Guccini’s book is a poetic and nostalgic ode to a peasant world that is slipping away just as the day draws to a close. Tralummescuro Francesco Guccini Giunti, 2019
