Another year of Fondazione Pirelli Educational draws to a close, leaving behind plenty of stories to tell. This project has transformed students’ curiosity into knowledge, and turned dialogue with the past into an open outlook on the future. The end of the school year also marks the conclusion of the educational programme Siamo Storia. Siamo Futuro (We Are History. We Are Future), which has guided young people on a journey to discover corporate culture. Through documents, photographs, films and testimonies preserved in the Pirelli Historical Archive, students were able to read history from different points of view, exploring the industrial, social and cultural transformations of Italy from an international standpoint. This heritage continues to live on through its encounter with younger generations, transforming past memories into inspiration for tomorrow’s ideas, projects and visions.

Throughout the year, over 3,000 primary and secondary school pupils, as well as 800 university students, took part in workshops, visits and meetings. These sessions were dedicated to sustainability, mobility, technological innovation and visual communication. The youngest participants explored the fantastic world of rubber, designed more sustainable cities, and discovered the visual language used in Pirelli’s communication. The secondary school students explored topics such as technological research, environmental sustainability, mobility in tomorrow’s world, graphics, design, and the increasingly central role of data in contemporary society. The experience reserved for final-year high school students was particularly meaningful. More than 150 girls and boys had the opportunity to step into the heart of Pirelli’s Research and Development department. They visited the laboratories where tomorrow’s innovations are born, getting a close-up look at the virtual simulation processes and testing phases that precede the creation of a tyre.

Several special events were also put on during the year. These included the Pirelli Foundation’s participation in the Festival dell’Innovazione e della Scienza, the innovation and science festival in Settimo Torinese, and the launch of an event in collaboration with the Traffic Police to promote a culture of road safety among young people. Additionally, workshops were held as part of the Rete Fotografia programme, dedicated to promoting the photographic heritage.

Pirelli Foundation Educational looks forward to welcoming everyone back next school year with new courses and workshops. Primary and secondary school teachers are invited to attend the online presentation of the new educational programme on Monday 21 September at 5 pm. This will offer a preview of all the latest developments that will accompany this upcoming journey through history, innovation and the future.
