Look Up, Write Down

With Pirelli We Learn... STORYTELLING

Pirelli places a strong emphasis on the joy of reading and on its importance for learning. The Pirelli Foundation actively supports a number of initiatives to promote books, such as the opening of libraries for employees and their families at its Milan headquarters and at its factories in Bollate and Settimo Torinese. Another is the Premio Campiello Junior, a literature and poetry competition for young people, organised in collaboration with the Fondazione Il Campiello. The aim of the event is to promote a love of literature among the young.

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW
One way to inspire others to read is through book reviews. The students will explore some of the great stories featured in Pirelli magazine, dating from 1948 to 1972, and in the current Pirelli World magazine, written by renowned Italian and international writers. They will also read excerpts from works nominated for the Premio Campiello to learn the art of book and story reviews, using both traditional approaches and the latest digital methods. Like true book bloggers, they will then try their hand at creating a short video, summarising and providing their personal commentary to inform and captivate.

OBJECTIVES
This course aims to foster a passion for reading among the young, introducing them to new authors and literary forms linked to the world of business. The students will also be able to improve their recapitulation, writing and communication skills.

The course will consist of two meetings. It will be possible to agree to have the event entirely online or to have the first of the two events in person, depending on availability.
