The Pirelli Calendar started life as a Pirelli UK Ltd project. In its search for a marketing strategy to beat its domestic competition, the Group’s British subsidiary launched a project in 1964 that was ground-breaking for its day, entrusting its creation to Robert Freeman, portraitist of the Beatles.
What emerged was a publishing product with an artistic value and level of exclusiveness that took it way beyond the world of fashion and glamour. Since then, "The Cal"™ has continued to mark the passing of time, offering an insight into a changing society through the eyes of the world’s most famous photographers. A total of 48 editions of the Pirelli Calendar, with works by 37 photographers, have been published since 1964, the latest being Bryan Adams for the 2022 edition, the year that is also the 150th anniversary of the company.
