Pirelli, a passion on two wheels

It is not only a story of cars and motorcycles that Pirelli has written in the world of motorsport, but also a story of bicycles. The production of Pirelli tyres for bicycles began in 1890, and by the early years of the twentieth century the famous “elongated P” logo was already appearing on the jerseys of great champions such as Costante Girardengo, Alfredo Binda, Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali. It was Alfredo Binda who, in 1949, conceived the Gran Premio Pirelli, an amateur cycling trophy contested through regional qualifying events culminating in a final race at Milan’s Vigorelli Velodrome. Today, Pirelli’s return to the world of competitive cycling represents a modern and technological contribution to the craftsmanship and expertise that have been part of its heritage since the very beginning.
