2016 Open Archives:
A Whole World of Photographs
The Wealth of Documentation Created by Pirelli in over 140 years of history
For its Open Archives event in 2016, the Pirelli Foundation opened its photographic archive to show the huge range of documentation created by the company in over 140 years of history: 700,000 items, with prints, slides and negatives on glass and film, showing the factories, products, exhibitions and trade fairs, as well as motorcar, motorbike and cycling races, and fashion shows.
The photographs were taken or commissioned by the Advertising and Communication Department from the 1910s to the 1990s for company magazines, product catalogues and Pirelli advertising campaigns. All were taken by the great names of international photography.
