World Poetry Day is celebrated on 21 March, the first day of spring—a symbol of cultural renewal through the power of poetry.

The event was established by UNESCO in 1999 to encourage the reading, writing, and teaching of poetry as a means of fostering intercultural dialogue, peace, and linguistic diversity. This year, we mark the occasion with Il bambino di gomma, a playful children’s poem by Alfonso Gatto that was published in Pirelli magazine no. 2 of 1950.
