Henry David Thoreau
Henry David Thoreau was born on 12 July 1817 in Concord, Massachusetts, and he died in the same city on 6 May 1862. In his books, the American philosopher and writer investigates the relationship between human beings and nature, as in his famous autobiographical novel Walden; or, Life in the Woods, in which he attempts to enter into an intimate relationship with nature, through his experience of living for two years in a cabin in the woods, by Walden Pond. The book later provided inspiration for some authors of the Beat Generation, such as Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg.
