    It’s My Tree

A little squirrel loves eating pine cones in the shade of a tree. He is truly fond of his tree but he also fears that someone else might think about coming to it, eating the pine cones and resting in its shade too. He loves to point out that it is HIS tree, just as children love to say “it’s MINE!” about everything they love. So the squirrel decides to build a fence, a gate or, even better, a big wall around his property. A short, insightful story by Olivier Tallec has children reflect on selfishness and on how building walls around us can prevent us from seeing how much beauty there is to discover on the other side of the barriers we create.
