| General description of the subject | The 1949 Italian Motorcycle Grand Prix, known as the "Gran Premio delle Nazioni", held on 4 September 1949 on the Monza circuit: pictures of the race. This was the last event in the first World Motorcycle Championships, and it included various races: the 125, 250 and 500 classes were won by Gianni Leoni on FB Mondial, Dario Ambrosini on Benelli and Nello Pagani on Gilera respectively, while the sidecar class was won by Ercole Frigerio and his passenger Lorenzo Dobelli on Gilera. At the end of the races, Nello Pagani and Dario Ambrosini become world champions in the 125 and 250 classes respectively. |

Established in 2008 Pirelli Foundation starts to operate in 2009 at the request of the Group and of the Pirelli family, in order to protect and disseminate knowledge of the company's cultural, historical and contemporary heritage and to promote its business culture.
